History
In June 1898 inaugurated the new cold baths at Ribersborg in Malmo.
The initiative for this was a cane factory CA Richter, who bought the building from the old cold-bath house at the entrance to Nyhamn. Because the port was expanded Richter could call in the old bath for sale.
Ribersborgs Kallbadhus is named after the district Ribersborg.
1902 swept a storm called "julstormen" in the west of Sweden and destroyed the bath. The reconstruction was made certain changes in the external portrayal. Among other things, built in the former planned diving tower at the men`s side with a wonderful view of the strait and into the damavdelningen.
1914 inaugurated "Malmo Aquatics Center, which Ribersborgs Kallbadhus was named in connection with the Baltic Games in swimming and water polo.
During the 30`s became the modern with the nude and a confidentiality built between men`s and women`s side.
When WWII broke out used parts of the popular bath for military purposes.
• 1962 built the first wood-burning sauna.
• 1964 was the men`s side jump off the tower and the pool was founded with sand.
• 1966 acquired Malmö City facility and took over the operation.
• 1973 was fitted with the bath water, flush toilets and showers.
• 1988 was cold baths extensive damage after a spring storm.
It was suggested that the bath would be demolished and moved closer to the center, which triggered a public storm, which
meant that the bath was maintained at its original location.
• 1993, Malmö municipality operating the plant at AB Ribersborgs Saltsjöbad. 1993/94 was completed the women`s side with a sauna,
at the same time was also extended changing rooms and shower room.
• 1995 August 14, it was decided that the cold-bath house would be declared a historic building.
• 2001 February 3 destroyed the entire men`s side bath and sauna in a fire
• 2002 June 9 opening women`s and men`s side sauna services for renovation and reconstruction.
• 2009 bath closed for extensive renovation of the stockade, which the plant is built. Virtually all piles were replaced. Although sundeck
replaced. The renovation was completed in July 2009 and now boasts Ribersborg Kallbadhus with a new land bridge, a solid foundation and new
operators; Hekajo AB.
The building still requires continuous maintenance. But perhaps aging also a part of its charm.
